A future life is a chance to have a good life, or at least, the acceptable life. This possibility of a good life can be secured only if the self is guaranteed access to the internal needs of life, under the condition of peace and prosperity. The internal needs are needs of the body and they are:
(a)food
(b) shelter
(c))clothing and
(d)good health.
There is no future life without the foundation of the internal needs above. Surely the internal needs are not the only needs of the Self. There are the external needs of religion, spirituality and freedom, also. It is a matter of establishing priorities in light of the precarity of the Tigrean condition.
Where these internal needs are absent, as they are in Tigray, there is no (1) future life, (2) life chance, and (3) no future with meaningful life chance. (1) (2) and (3) are anchored on the available foundational internal needs. All the three needs are flagrantly denied to the people of Tigray at war with Ethiopia. Securing them is the duty of thoughtful and morally intelligent global citizens.
Put syllogistically, the argument could be formulated as follows, The human self is fundamental internal needs to secure its self-hood. The Tigrrean people have a self. Their selfhood is violated, Therefore they have no future life, or life chances, to build a future.
These internal needs are indispensable for the human body. When Tigrreans are enclosed in spaces without good ABC, in which A is food, B is medication for health, and C is shelter and security, and D electricity and fuels, their self-hood is removed, they become non beings.
The UN and its global institutions must be mindful of the systematic denial of selfhood to the Tigrean people by the means of Ethnic cleansing. We Tigreans everywhere must share the facts on the ground tirelessly at schools and universities, work places, hospitals and clinics, so that the world could know to the degree that it knows about our brothers and sisters in Ukraine.
