Following its founding on 12th of August 1989, TDA with Mekelle’s community is beautifully celebrating its 33rd anniversary in the name of the ‘Week of TDA’.

Started both by providing financial donations to the needy in Mekelle, Fatsi and Adigrat, and by planting siblings in the compound of Kalamino Special High School, the event still warmly continues being marked accompanied by a citywide carnival and a panel session held on the 8th and 9th of August 2022. The session lasts for 10 days from August 07 to 16 2022.

The panel session and the carnival were officially opened by TDA’s acting executive director Mr. Tesfay G/her and vice director Dr. Tesfahunegn H/mariam respectively. During their opening remarks, they both extended their heartfelt appreciations to Diaspora Tegaru for their unwavering multifaceted support from TDA’s inception to date.

Mrs. Yehansa Teklay as a mediator, the panelists namely were World Laurate Prof. Dr. Mitiku Haile, who presented on the roles of TDA in the improvement of access and quality of education, health, job creation, women empowerment, agriculture, etc; Dr. Daniel Teklu, who presented on the roles of TDA in the building up culture, language, art, history, etc; Mr. Mulugeta Debalkew Dr. Muez Gidey presented on the roles of TDA in rehabilitation and reconstruction of Tigrai; and Priest Teum Berhe on the roles of TDA in strengthening Tegaru’s unity.

The principal objective of the panel session was to further enhance the roles TDA should play in building up and harnessing Tegaru’s unity for the Tigrians’ best interest.

The panel session was attended by more than 150 people, who were higher officials, heads of bureaus, International and local NGOs, political groups, religious leaders, managers of media organizations, universities, activists and so on.
