It is crystal clear that when harmony is precedence, political parties are fruitful, scientists are successful, societal ties are restored, armed groups are victorious and bilateral and multilateral relationships are well cemented. No inspirational leaders tend to disagree with this idea as unity motivates and encourages people to strive together and eventually enjoy achievements.
Martin Luther King said, “We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” This mainly depends on how industriously people work together for shared vision. Bringing all people together for a certain designed plan undoubtedly resulted in affirmative consequence.
That is what we noticed in Tigray in the past four consecutive years when the plan to abolish the people and delete them from world history was waged upon them. More than ten countries including Rusia, Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, North Korea, Azerbajan, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia allied their forces and launched genocidal war against the six million people of Tigray.
It is obvious that everything in life mayn’t go exactly the way we think it should be. However, the crucial point is how one can react when things go in the wrong truck. If this happened upon country or region, it needs a smart leader who could manage to curb the disaster. This could make us to recall what happened on Tigray and what is happening now.
However, Tigray has been managing that evil scheme due the unison of the people and their wise, committed, resourceful, genuine and considerate leader. Some readers may question how I can confidently describe this leader and some of his colleagues this way. My readers should understand that I usually adore calling a spade a spade. Due to this reason, I had become a victim throughout the EPRDF regime, which has continued up to now.
In the meantime, I met the leader whom I described above, the President of Tigray, Debretsion Gebremichael (PhD) and I used that golden opportunity to read him like a book. That is why I am witnessing the reality now though still in critical situation to make my living. But I can’t deny the facts about his leadership. I believe that there are millions of Tigrayans who could agree with my witness.
As we all know, following the death of the visionary leader Meles Zenawi, TPLF began losing its negotiating power in federal position and the people of Tigray subjected to various attacks and alienations from the EPRDF member parties who had led the country for about 28 years. Economic, social and political situations in Tigray began deteriorating and the people almost considered TPLF as inefficient party. Some of the people even asked for a new blood and party to administering them.
However, the coming of Debretsion Gebremichael to power as vice president had begun changing the mentality of the people. They began collaborating with the government as a result there was a ray of hope for development and governance improvement.
Obviously, the administration had done different infrastructures like roads, strengthen investments, assisting investors participation at Mekelle industrial park, facilitating the construction of Mekelle potable water project, solving Golgol Raya irrigation problems, enhancing agricultural and industrial productivity in the region and the like.
In this regard, the role of Drbretsion in bringing TPLF and the people together to have a shared development scheme was irreplaceable. Dr. Debretsion, who had never engaged in all the multifaceted problems created before has played the lion’s share in renewing the relationship between the people and TPLF having alleviated the previously accumulated problems step by step.
During the struggle against the conquerors that waged ethnic cleansing armed campaign up on the people of Tigray to eliminate them, he contributed a remarkable leading role in uniting the people together and defending the aggressors that led the people and the region to reach at this phase.
Telling the truth, he is a symbol of the national unity of Tigrayans, who have been fighting to restore the dignity of the people and the sovereignty of Tigray. What I absolutely witness about him is the fact that he is free from any network or any other kind of attachment. He is really a responsible, genuine and hones leader who has been working day in day out to meet the interest of the people. Once he was ill and had a medical operation and the doctors who operated him advised to take rest for a long time not sit on managerial chairs if he wished to elongate his life but incredibly he was daily coming to office and was accomplishing his tasks standing the whole day.
Then, the invasion broke out when he was in a bad health. But he managed to harmonize the people and the army enduring all the challenges he faced and has been fighting to save Tigray and its people since then. Had it been for his mature leadership and his colleagues devotion, Tigray wouldn’t have reached the phase where it is at the moment.
Despite this fact, some distorted propaganda are circulating via some social media practitioners that could weaken the unity of the people and their alliance with the army.All Tigrians must continue to have one and one stand against the groups committed all the crimes in Tigray to have full-fledged victory.
In other words, it is of paramount important to strengthen this unity under the leadership of the genuine leader and his senior colleagues recognizing the various plots the enemies of the people of Tigray have been hatching at different times.
Everyone should be alert of what the enemies of the people and leadership of Tigray are doing to disrupt the unison through various distorted social media campaigns and propagandas in the aftermaths of their defeat in the war they waged upon the people of Tigray. But I really witness that the leadership of Debretsion Gebremichel could take the region to further victory. The leadership of Debretsion has been devoting to ascertain lasting peace and realize justice in Tigray. As his leadership ability of decision making, boosting public collaboration, effectively responding to crisis and unexpected changes, maintain the grit necessary to keep moving forward and exploring new goals and strategies to built better Tigray is irreplaceable, we all must stand together putting aside internal differences and cement our ties with the dedicated leader, Debretsion Gebremichael, until we ensure our existence and security.
